Quem sou eu

Meu nome é Arcelia Gallardo e trabalho com chocolate há 20 anos como chocolatier, fazedora de chocolate, consultora/professora de chocolate, e tenho orgulho de ser filha de agricultor. Viajo pela América Latina para trabalhar com produtores de cacau, fabricantes de chocolate, chocolatiers e para ensinar mulheres indígenas a fazer chocolate.

Viajei para 23 países para aprender sobre chocolate e cacau; desde chocolatier boutiques em Paris até comunidades isoladas nas selvas da floresta. Trabalhei com mulheres zapotecas em Oaxaca, mulheres maias na Guatemala e Belize, mulheres Ngäbe no Panamá e mulheres incas no Peru.

Nasci em Los Angeles, Califórnia, filha de imigrantes mexicanos. Passo a maior parte do meu tempo em São Paulo, Brasil, e o resto na Califórnia.

Meu objetivo é fazer deliciosas receitas de chocolate nunca antes feitas, respeitando as fazendas, os agricultores e o meio ambiente.

Sou cofundador e ex-presidente da Associação Bean to Bar Brasil, conselheiroa da James Beard Foundation, ex-copresidente do Good Food Awards (Chocolate) em San Francisco, Califórnia.

Membro da FCIA - Associação da Indústria do Chocolate Fino.

Produzimos o chocolate mais premiado do Brasil e fazemos todo com o mínimo de ingredientes.

Visitamos agricultores para encontrar nosso cacau e garantir que ele seja cultivado usando práticas regenerativas, orgânicas e sustentáveis ​​dentro de um sistema agroflorestal.

Nossos ingredientes são locais, às vezes silvestres, nativos das Américas e representam a cultura, geografia, gastronomia e sabores nativos brasileiros.

 A Mission Chocolate foi fundada em 2013, nossa fábrica foi inaugurada em 2014 e nossa loja em 2023. Nossa loja e fábrica ficam no Brooklin, São Paulo. Em 2017 montamos uma fábrica na Califórnia, EUA.

Who am I

My name is Arcelia Gallardo and I have been working with chocolate for 20 years as a chocolatier, chocolate maker, chocolate consultant/teacher, and I am proudly a farmers daughter. I travel through Latin America to work with cacao growers, chocolate makers, chocolatiers, and to teach indigenous women to make chocolate.

I have traveled to 23 countries to study chocolate and cacao; from boutique chocolatiers in Paris to isolated communities in the jungles of the Amazon Rainforest. I have worked with Zapotec women in Oaxaca, Maya women in Guatemala and Belize, Ngäbe women in Panama, and Inca women in Peru. 

I was born in Los Angeles, California to Mexican immigrants. I spend most of my time in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the rest in California.

My goal is to make delicious chocolate recipes that have never been done before while respecting the farms, farmers and the environment. 

I am a co-founder and past president of the Associação Bean to Bar Brasil, Advisor with the James Beard Foundation, past Co-Chair of the Good Food Awards (Chocolate) in San Francisco, California, and past judge for the NorthWest Chocolate Festival Awards in Seattle, Washington. 

Current member of FCIA - the Fine Chocolate Industry Association

About Mission Chocolate

We produce the most awarded chocolate in Brazil using minimal ingredients. 

We visit farmers to find our cacao and make sure it is grown using regenerative, organic and  sustainable practices within an agroforestry system. 

Our ingredients are local, sometimes wild/foraged, native to the americas and represent Brazilian culture, geography, gastronomy and native flavors.
Mission Chocolate was founded in 2013, our factory opened in 2014 and our store in 2023. Both our store and factory are in Brooklin, Sao Paulo. In 2017 we set up a smaller factory in California, USA.
